What evidence is there for creationism?
so i have started down the path of trying to understand evolution, and to get the linear lies that the jws planted in my head out of it.
i bought an audiobook called "evolution: what the fossils say and why it matters" by donald prothero.
i heard it recommended on an atheist podcast that i listened to.

i've heard many folks on this forum talk about summer warming as though it's a fact.
but this is totally fake and made up.
anyone whose done any research knows it does not get any warmer in the summer than it does the winter.
It was meant to be a bit of humor showing that if you cherry pick the data (the way global warming deniers do) you could "disprove" summers are warmer than winters. Apparently I'm not very funny though.

OldNavy,
Do you have good reasons for believing the things you believe when it comes to your claims about creation?

I've heard many folks on this forum talk about summer warming as though it's a fact. But this is totally fake and made up. Anyone whose done any research knows it does not get any warmer in the summer than it does the winter. For example, here in Monterey (where I live) it reached 73 degrees on January 8th. But last year in the summer it only reached 66 degrees on July 13th. All across the US we can find warmer winter days than summer days. Clearly summers are not warmer than winters.
But it's not just single days either. For example, during the whole month of December the average high temperature was 80 degrees in Huston. But in the London for the month of May the average high for the month was only 77 degrees. So it was cooler in the summer than it was in the winter. This totally blows the lid off of summer warming.
Climate scientists are clearly perpetuating a hoax. Summer warming is a myth.

Discovering Truth is a personal venture that will be achieved in a personal way. You will discover unexpected Truths for so long as you continue seeking them by whatever means you employ.

Do you think people should have good reasons for believing the things they believe? And do you think people have an obligation to use reliable methods of getting information to inform their beliefs?
For example, if I scattered chicken bones across the floor and then declared - this tells me Thor will soon return - would you think I was justified in such a belief? And would it be enough to convince you of my claim?

it simply misunderstands what many believers think God is or what can even be said about him. In a crucial sense it is the essence of God that he is such that he is sufficient in himself.
-SFB
Surely such a proposition would be self defeating. Because if a god were "sufficient to itself" there wouldn't be a universe. I don't know of any deist that believes this.
However, most deists I've talked to (and the sort I used to be) believe in a "creator god". The difference, of course, between a creator god and a run of the mill deity is that a "creator god" is required to create. Thus, it is NOT "sufficient to itself". Rather, it is dependent upon its creation.
A painter that doesn't paint - isn't a painter. And a creator god that doesn't create - isn't a creator god.
But more importantly SBF - I think you've missed the point of the exercise. It was the creationist who asserted that consciousness requires an explanation. When pressed on how creationism explains consciousness - Old Navy retreated to "God done it" - which doesn't explain it. It just kicks the can down the road. We would still have to explain the consciousness of the God. And further saying "God is sufficient to itself" also doesn't explain it. Because "sufficient to itself" is not an explanation. Rather, it's an obfuscation meant to disguise what is very obviously a case of Special Pleading.

Old Navy,
I don't see any reason to think what you just said is true. However, I do see a great deal of evidence that this claim is false. Those who go to school and get an education in the life sciences - those who do academic research and field work - and who study various animals and ecosystems and taxonomy of species - are NOT coming back saying "God done it".
To the contrary, all their research continues to show that life on this planet evolved through naturalistic means. Not magic.
There's nothing humble about creationism - because claiming to know things you can't possibly know is the complete opposite of humility - it's the height of arrogance.

There are certain aspects of the incredibly complex phenomenon of Life which we may never be able to comprehend by reliance upon the Scientific Method since it has limitations.
How do you know this?
Our Creators, on the other hand, have unlimited intelligence and ability. For them all things are possible.
How do you know this? Is there actually a good reason for thinking this is the case? Or is this just a mere assertion?

Creationists believe that man was designed in the image of a God who is conscious, self aware, thinks, plans and carries out plans.
-Vanderhoven7
This doesn't answer the question of consciousness. It just kicks the can down the road. How do we explain the consciousness of the god?

When it is the only possibility that remains.
How do you know it's a possibility? We can't solve one mystery with another mystery Old Navy. And we can't explain one unknown by postulating the existence of another unknown.
This would be like saying, "Well I couldn't find my key's this morning therefore bigfoot took them - it's the only remaining possibility."
Absent some evidence that bigfoot exists and is the sort of creature that takes keys - then it is not valid to say it's a possibility. In order to say something's 'possible' we need either precedent or something of parallel comparison.
The same is true with universe creating gods. Until such a time as it is demonstrated that gods do in fact exist and they create universes - then it's not valid to assert that it's "possible".
I'll also point out your attempt to equate creation to evolution is quite silly. While there is no evidence for gods there is massive amounts of evidence for evolution - which is demonstrable with measurable accuracy.
